During the summer you’ve got two choices: 1. Find a place around school. 2. Go home.
This can be a difficult decision.. Do I stay around school and work and take classes, and be on my own with my new friends? Or do I go home and work at my old job with my old friends but save money by living at home?
I choose to stay around school each year.. I’ve basically made Topeka my home from the day I moved off to school..
It varies from student to student I think.. Some go home every chance they get, some go home the first summer and stay the rest.. But I do know.. You should definitely cut the cord before you graduate.. Just sayin.
This all came to me while I was driving home for the first time in awhile.. Hah.
Have a good rest of the week! NSO Friday! Wuuuu!
Having a job (or jobs) while attending school is something most students deal with. Whether it be to pay for classes, pay for a social life, or just because.
Either way it’s something most students have to work into their already pretty packed schedules. There are different ways about going about this. Having a flexible job is a starter. But what about maybe working nights? Sounds perfect right? You won’t have to worry about your work schedule conflicting with your school and social life!
Yeah, working nights may sound ok. More money, dealing with fewer customers, free dress code, listening to your own music, and free days. However, that last part -free days- isn’t exactly true.
Working nights is tough. It’s s complete schedule change, while you may be thinking “Oh Nick, I don’t sleep anyway! So it’s fine!” yeah, that’s what I thought too. Turns out it takes quite a bit out of you and trying to keep up with your day schedule becomes a harder and more difficult task as the night shifts continue.
Moral of the Story: While nights may sound appealing at first. Be cautious and remember classes should come first. If you feel yourself falling behind, think about a change.
Happy Success Week everyone.
Good luck on all of your finals next week!
I somehow managed to only end up with one final, my other classes all had papers.. so today is basically the end of my semester!
It was an interesting semester to say the least.. It flew by.. but I’m glad to be done with it. This next year is going to be great, I’m actually really excited, another new start.
The semester is almost over… *insert lots of panic here*
So even though the weather has been awesome lately.. I’m still not sure if I believe it or not.. I still keep thinking it’s going to be cold the next day.. :/
In other news.. SOC stuff is coming up quick.. The most exciting time of the year I’d say! I sound like a nerd.. But orientation days are awesome! And I’m excited to start meeting new students and their parents/guests!
And other other news.. This semester is over in like.. A month.. That’s insane.
The time is approaching to register for the fall semester… CRAZY! I don’t know about anyone else but when it comes to scheduling classes.. I like to plan everything out.. Like.. A few semesters in advance..
Anyways.. This semester I stacked my schedule.. Only tuesday Thursday’s.. Which is awesome when you have a job to fit in.. However, it leads to a major increase in procrastination, you forget what campus looks like, and when important things happen on those days.. You’re screwed and have to miss them..
Moral of the story.. Put thought into your schedule selection!
