Busyyyyyyyyy!

Wow! It’s been awhile!

Things have gotten pretty busy in my life this semester..

I’m working two jobs almost 65 hours a week, Plus 12 hours of classes.. By definition, I guess you could consider me a Non-Traditional student now..? I am only on campus two days, Tuesday and Thursday and I’m there for most of the day..

I’ve been keeping up with classes a lot more, I go to sleep typically by 10, because I have to be at work at 7. I spend most of my ‘free time’ studying.

Welcome to Life! hah

It’s been alright really.. forced my to grow up and become responsible pretty quickly. My social life is a bit non existent, which is alright, Gotta do whatcha gotta do!

SNOW DAY!

So this huuuuge snow storm is supposed to like destroy half the nation today.. I’ve heard reports of us getting around 12.8 inches.. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that.. but it’s pretty legit if we did!

Anyways.. So Washburn like.. Never closes school.. I don’t think since I’ve been to school here it has closed.. so this is pretty crazy..

And on top of that, I only have tuesday thursday classes.. Therefor.. I only have classes once this week! WOOO!!! And I am totally caught up and ahead of studying and assignments! Which means today.. NOTHING. I’m going to watch random TV shows and watch it snow.

Week Two.

I hope everyone survived their first week back!

Spring Semester 2011 is starting out very cold, I don’t approve at all, I want to wear shorts again.

Anyways, I’m really digging this whole classes only two days a week thing.. Probably the best planning I’ve ever done. My stress to get things done has been narrowed down to only Monday and Wednesday.. although…… I’m just finishing up everything for Tuesday and getting a head start on Thursdays stuff.. P.S. it’s Sunday.. I know I know.. This is not typical college behavior.. but.. it’s this new thing I’m trying.. it’s called.. Actually Trying. Anyone who actually knows me just had a “Whaaaaaaaaaat!?!” moment from Despicable Me.. But yes. It is true. I’m shaping up, I’ve seen the light, and I’m going to do well this semester.

Anywayssss….. That got a bit personal.. Meh, It’s a college experience.

FIRST DAY!!!

It’s the first day of classes!

I won’t lie, I wasn’t ready at all as of this morning at 4am when I was still awake not worrying about my class at 11. I’ll admit I went to Walmart to get school supplies at like midnight last night.. My mind was just not ready for classes to start yet.

However, I got up this morning and turns out.. I still wasn’t ready to go to class. But I got to class 10 minutes early, because everyone knows you’ve got to go early the first day to claim your seat for the whole semester and if you don’t get the seat you wanted you’re just out of luck for the rest of the semester because everyone gets defensive about their seats.

Anywaysssss…

So first class was English 300, I’m not much of a fan of writing papers.. I don’t think many students do.. but the way my professor made it sound I don’t think it’s going to be too bad of a class, I a little excited for it actually.. Next class was Leadership 200, I was looking forward to this class just cause LE 100 was fun and I knew most of the people in my class. It should be an interesting class as well probably pretty engaging, and no tests. WIN. So far I’m not going to have any finals this semester! I have one more class left today at 5:30, Art History, and I’m actually kinda looking forward to that class as well just because I think it could be really interesting and I’d kinda like to get a little more into art, so we will seeeeeee.. I have one more class but its online so it’ll be a bit different.. But, so far classes are good!

It was nice being back on campus again, seeing it all exciting and busy! It made me realize how much I actually do enjoy being on a college campus.. It’s just a fun environment to me, seeing students interact, talking to friends, and just taking part in the campus culture. It’s good stuff!

Anyways, I think that’ll be all for now.. Hope everyone else had a great first day as well!

New Year, New Start

As you all know.. It is now 2011. I meant to make a post on New Years.. but.. Then I just didn’t.. but either way.. Happy (kind of late) New Years!

It’s getting closer to the start of this new semester. Spring 11. I’ll be honest, I think I like the spring semester more than the fall semester. Probably because I’ve had less time off between the fall and spring so I am still able to know what studying means, whereas coming off of summer break into the fall semester, I don’t want to do anything. So I guess you could say I’m more motivated for the spring semester than the fall. I don’t know..

So my break has been pretty uh.. kinda pointless.. My sleeping schedule is all kinds of messed up.. I typically go fall asleep around 4 or 5 .. AM. and I wake up around 2 or 3 .. PM. then I go to work around 5 come back around 9:30, and then do nothing until 4 or 5 .. AM. Ok, I wouldn’t say I do nothing.. I’ve actually been doing a few things.. I’ve fallen in love with Netflix, and StumbleUpon is an amazing wonder. So basically, I’ll play a movie (I’m really into British movies right now), and then I’ll StumbleUpon different websites and learn stuff.

Honestly.. I’m kinda ready for classes to start again and for everyone to come back to Topeka.. It’s been quiet.

Winter Break

First off.. Congrats to all the students.. We made it through another semester!

Second, It’s Winter Break! Woo! ..Although, I won’t lie, this break is not feeling very wintery.. usually by now we’ve had like.. at least three decent snows.. I have yet to see that this year.. Will we have a White Christmas? I’m not sure.. It’s Kansas.. Anything could happen..

Winter Break for me.. Isn’t much.. This is basically my time to catch up on all the sleep I have not had throughout these last couple months.. So.. I pretty much just work and sleep all break.. My social life goes into hibernation mode seeing that most of my wonderful friends all go home for the break, it leaves me at my house to catch up on all of the TV shows I’ve missed, all the great movies I’ve not had a chance to watch, and play a lot of Fifa 11. I’m not just at home though, I work still as well.. Breaks from school are my chance to boost of the bank account that gets destroyed during school.. So, Sleep, Work, FIFA. SWF. hah.

Anyways, I hope everyone else is having a wonderful holiday season!

I’m taking a break from studying just to let everyone know ..It’s finals week..

This is the week that proves that we haven’t completely wasted all our time and money these last couple months.. This is the week that is supposed to break us down and then build us back up.. This is the week we either become very proud of ourselves or figure out how to fix it next semester..

Just try not to be too stressed everyone.. Watch a movie sometime this week.. Go out to dinner.. Play a board game.. Build a fort out of pillows and blankets.. Go for a run.. do something that will take your mind off of studying for at least a few hours this week..
Thats about all I have on that…

In other news.. It’s freaking cold. Bundle up!

Heated Discussions?

Couple things I want to kind of mention. Enthusiasm.. Again, “Success Week”, Finals, Facebook, and Winter Break.

First off, Enthusiasm, Yes, I’ve talked about it before, and it was one of my most viewed posts, but I’m going to keep talking about it, because it means a lot to me. I think the men that have attended those sporting events painted up are doing a great thing. Showing Pride in our University, (one of the main things our student body needs to improve on.) Eventually that student section is going to be crowded. Don’t shut it down, embrace it. Welcome to College.

Success Week, I’ve seen a lot of Facebook statuses and comments about this.. Basically it means the week before Finals professors aren’t supposed to have any major tests or projects so that the students have a chance to study for finals. So some of the professors haven’t abided by this “policy”, “Rule”, “Whatever you want to call it”. Yes I think it was a great idea, however, did I think any professor was actually going to abide by it? Not really.. Why should they? It’s their classroom, ultimately in the end they will get say in how their class is laid out. Yes, it is tough having to study for a test the week before finals or trying to get a 10 page paper hammered out and then have to start studying right away after you finish it. BUT, this is what makes us better students, just remember, in 2 weeks we will be free for like almost 2 months.. just hang in there!

I kind of covered Finals in the above paragraph, but, I really was just going to wish everyone good luck. It is coming up quick. I have like 5 I think.. One each day.. Trying not to stress about them is getting close to impossible.. but.. Have to stay positive and have faith!

Facebook, Its Pokemon Profile Picture Month. I just wanted everyone to know that. Also, that whole cartoon picture thing.. It was a good idea, but I’m not completely sure I understood why everyone was doing it.. why are we raising awareness? I’m pretty sure everyone is quite aware of what Child Abuse is.. what is changing your picture to a cartoon going to help? Just saying.. Pokemon Profile Picture Month is raising awareness for anything.. Its just a fun little thing on Facebook.. If you would have labeled this Cartoon thing as that.. I would have agreed and participated.. Next Month.

Senior Day/College Experience!

Today was Senior day at Washburn! I attended, just to try and welcome a few possible new students! I remember looking into colleges as a senior.. I think I came for a tour of Washburn the summer before my senior year, Angel Romero gave me my tour actually! I was sold on the tour, fell in love with the campus. I didn’t even look at any other schools before I decided.. Which.. Could have been a bad thing, but, I think I ended up in the right place!

Now I look back at everything I have had an opportunity to do and I really don’t think I could have gotten to do everything I have done if not for coming to Washburn. My college experience so far has seriously been an Epic one. I’ve experienced almost everything you can think of that a college student would experience. I’ve made it through, and I’ve had the time of my life. I can only wish for these new students checking out Washburn that they choose the same path and live their college experience to the fullest!

10 days left..

Today is the first day back from Thanksgiving Break.. I’m not too sure how I feel about it.. I also must warn you that there is only 10 days of classes left.. That makes me nervous. Basically this just means I will be locking myself in either Maybee Library or my Attic room.. either way.. I get to start studying HARDCORE on everything I’ve learned through the whole semester..

One of the cool things though about that last couple weeks.. Is that everyone is in the same position.. Everyone is super stressed about making sure they get the grades they want.. The week before finals the library is usually SUPER packed and its opened 24 hours.. so it creates some good study times.. To me, what I’ve noticed from my past couple final weeks, is that this is when some of the best bonding happens.. some of the deepest conversations, some of the craziest times happen, just because everyone is at that same level that we need those stress relieving talks and hang out sessions.. So part of me is excited for these last couple weeks because I know I’ll have some good times with my close group of friends.. but the other part of me is super stressed and a tad worried whether or not I’m going to be able to pull off the grades I wanted.. I guess we shall see!
